ENMAX Exits Alberta’s Competitive Electricity & Natural Gas Market

As of September 2024, ENMAX has announced its exit from the Alberta, Canada commercial and industrial energy market. This move will significantly affect consumers across the province, who use more than 250,000 kWh of electricity or 2,500 GJ of natural gas annually. Residential customers, as well as those on the default Regulated Rate Option (RRO), will continue to receive uninterrupted service and support without disruption.
What does it mean for Alberta businesses currently being served by ENMAX?

All customers currently under contract with ENMAX in Alberta will be served through the end of their current agreement and no customers will be dropped because of this decision.

NO Renewal Pricing will be given to customers whose contracts are up for renewal.

NO new sites will be added to existing agreements.

NO blend and extends will be entertained for existing agreements.

If your site is dropped due to non payment or late payment, it will likely not be re-enrolled and an early termination fee/exit fee may apply.
What Next?
